Day by Day Report of the Christmas in Malawi 2011 ( Missionary Monica Gonzalez)
December 8, 2011 (Thursday)
Our journey to Malawi had begun with five missionaries from the USA and one from South Africa. Throughout the whole mission, we saw God’s hand in every situation we encountered. While we were at the counter of United, ready to check in our luggage, the lady at the counter wanted to charge for every little thing in regards to weight and size of the luggage. While the lady called for an upper management, we stood there praying. All of a sudden another gentleman took over and took care of our luggage. Later we come to find out there was an error in Sister Kerri Ann’s name in which we just left in God’s hand to take care of it, since there was nothing the people at the counter were able to do. God did take of Sister Kerri- Ann all the way to Malawi and back
December 10, 2011 (Saturday)
After the long plane rides we made it safe to Lilongwe. There was no issue getting the luggage into the country where we added 2000 bags to the 10,000 school bags that were awaiting the children. We drove another 4-5 hrs in car to our hotel in Linwonde – Hippo View Lodge. There was a big shortage of gasoline in the country. We saw cars line up at the Gas Station and we were informed that some of the people literarily have slept at the Gas station for days waiting for the Petrol tank to come. God is faithful, we had very little issue in getting fuel or going through the security through the towns.
December 11, 2011 (Sunday)
AMFC went to the Headquarters of Pastor Oni’s church ever increasing Joy Ministries in Kalambo. the whole group was received with songs and a warm welcome of a handshake and dances. Everyone was happy to see us. We had our Sunday service with the Church. The service was important to the church and the community. Teaching them about giving 10% of what they have and also how to give to those less fortunate than them. Pastor Oni celebrated Christmas with all the church members by blessing them with small amount of money. The people have never received such blessing before.
